After more than four decades working as a mechanical engineer across shipyards, offshore platforms, cruise ships, and industrial service companies, John “Thom” Thompson retired to the Gulf Coast of Florida with no intention of starting over. But retirement did not quiet his instinct for solving problems. During occasional visits to former colleagues, he noticed the same frustration everywhere: critical machines were sitting idle for days because replacement parts were delayed, overpriced, or simply unavailable through traditional channels. Thom realized that what many companies needed was not just a supplier, but someone who truly understood how industrial operations worked.

With his engineering background, practical experience, and long-standing network of industry contacts, Thom founded BlueDrop Enterpises, a small company based in Florida focused on sourcing and reselling reliable industrial parts. He began modestly, operating from a home near Tampa, carefully inspecting surplus inventory, discontinued components, and hard-to-find equipment parts that still had real value for factories, marine operators, and maintenance teams. His reputation grew quickly because he knew the difference between a part that merely looked usable and one that could replace safely under real operating conditions.

What started as a retirement project soon became a respected regional business. Customers appreciated Thom’s honest approach, technical knowledge, and ability to find practical solutions under pressure. In a market often driven by speed and salesmanship, BlueDrop Enterpises stood out for its trustworthiness and engineering discipline. For Thom, the company became more than a business; it was a second career built on experience, integrity, and the belief that useful machinery—and useful knowledge—should never be wasted.

After relocating to Boca Raton, BlueDrop Enterprises expanded its reach, serving overseas clients who needed reliable OEM spare-part replacements that offered both lower cost and the right technical fit. Working alongside his daughter, Sara, Thom transformed retirement into a family business—one that allowed him to keep doing what he loved while enjoying the Florida sun.
